United Methodist Women
Largest denomiational faith organization for women with over 800,000 member worldwide with a mission to foster spiritual growth, development of leaders, and advocating for justice. Each year, United Methodist Women members prepare for faithful living and action by studying up to three mission studies focusing on a spiritual growth topic, geographic area and a current issue. Members raise up to $20 million yearly for programs and projects related to women, children and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world.
The organized unit of United Methodist Women (UMW) shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ: to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
The theme for 2013 is Living the Heart of God. Living in God's heart is living in His love. Jesus says, "As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept My Fathers's commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you and that your joy may be full." (John 15:9-11) We live and remain in God's love by following the commands that Jesus gives us. All of God's commands have to do with love, loving God and loving others.
