Virtual VBS 2020

After a lot of prayer and searching for God's Will. We had to make many hard decisions about VBS this year. Should we cancel VBS altogether? Should we change the date in the hopes that restrictions would be lifted in time for us to have a traditional VBS? Should we do VBS Drive-In style? Should we do much smaller groups? etc. Each of these questions had valid pros and cons. We decided we needed to try something different, in light of COVID-19, but only if we could find something that we thought had a good Biblical message and activities to get the entire family involved. After some exploring, we believe we have found 2 perfect solutions. God has been with us every step of the way and we believe He has led us to Empowering Courageous Kids and Faith Lab @ Home.

Each of these programs are vastly different and talk about different things. They will be designed to do one lesson a week. You can choose when this works best for your family. You are more than welcome to sign up for one or both. We are not charging for VBS this year, but will accept donation to go toward the cost of these programs and to continue providing relevant programming.

Empowering Courageous Kids

(May 31-June 28)

This five-week program has weekly interactive video lessons that guide your family through meaningful experiences and discussions focused on Jesus' miracles, demonstrating how his power pulls us through times just like this. There are familiar VBS components in this program with a Bible point (theme), God sightings and music videos.

Each lesson is created to reveal how Jesus' power is bigger than the emotions kids are facing surrounding the Coronavirus. Lessons address the fear, loneliness, boredom, worry, and anger that kids might be feeling. Kids will discover how to manage those negative emotions through empowerment and thankfulness. And by exploring Jesus' miracles, kids and their families will see how Jesus' power will help them overcome this time of fear and uncertainty. These run about 25 minutes plus time for your family discussions. This is geared more for younger children (3rd grade and down) but I think older children could do it as well.

Faith Lab @ Home

(July 5-August 2)

This five week program contains five main components - Scripture memory through song, two science devotions, a silly game, and a family science project. (Bonus items include outdoor games, science snack ideas, and a coloring book.) These open-ended projects and games can keep your family entertained for a whole evening, but each of the five-day sessions can be completed in 30-40 minutes. This is geared more for the older children (Those that completed K and up) but all children could do it with the assistance of the parents.

While we will be participating in all elements of this project in our own homes, There will be plenty of ways to connect through weekly family challenges and photo sharing. Bring your family together by participating in Faith Lab @ Home alonside our church family!
